Dear Zelda.
Have you done your washing and ironing?
How did you spend the day, did you go to the lake?
Hos do you feel about the farm, shall we keep it?
Has it been raining?
Have they been able to hay on Joe's place?
How are the kids?
I'll have to make a copy of the questions I ask,uh.
Things are the same here. We have been waiting to hear about Miller's house. Lucille had her baby, a boy, she is in Quincy withe her Mother. Reed won't be home until Saturday; so we can't find out anything. Baily's house is empty. Mr. Byler was up to see Dad- I would rather have Millers house. I just hope we don't have to wait too long and miss both.
Thompsons have gone to Wenatchee;their house is vacant.Mrs. Baker says they sold it. Mrs. Thompson told Dad they hadn't so I don't know.I f we had a trailer house, we could move it in on Humphrey's farm; Jay & Marcell will rent theirs. It is not so nice; but we could get by, for awhile. So, we are still in a jackpot.
It was really hot, while we were away-107, and the wind blew continually. Mom and Dorthy were about ready to thumb their way, to somewhere.
We washed Monday nite, and Tuesday. Mom went to sew for the Relief Society, Tuesday P.M.. She and Dorthy went to the show Tuesday nite. We were just going to bed, when the adjuster came to see the car. They all had to go to town; so it was late when we got to bed. I mended sox yesterday.
It was Jerry's birthday yesterday and we were invited over for his cake and ice cream last nite.
Duane was here, Monday evening. He stayed to visit half-an-hour. Seems very sensible. Have you heard from him, he took your adddress.
The Mormons are having a celebration at Park Lake, today.
the men are working. Dorthy has an appointment with the Doctor at noon. Sounds like I'll be baby sitter again.
Dad said Lyme was asking about you, Sunday; wanted to make a date with you today.
Charles has gone over. He is on a boat. Ruth doesn't fuss too much about him. She wants to see the boat he is on.
Have you heard anything about Dana & Harold?
I'm sending a box-I couldn't find one to put the case in. You'll have to check it with your case-or mail it. Be sure to tie it well.
I'd better close now.
Hoping to hear from you.
Love Mom
Sis-when I got your dress out-they hadn't taken the spots out, so I'm going to send it back. I am sending your slacks-I didn't know they were dirty. And your belt.
THIS WAS A SMALL LETTER WITH THE ABOVE LETTER
Dear Cheryl Ann:
How are you? Do you still walk arount? How are your babies? Do you see Vickie and Fran?
Jimmie comes down every day or so, to see if you are home. He said, to Dorathy, yesterday, "well, the car is home" So, she told him you were coming on the bus. Jerry adn Billie miss seeing you too.
Are you Being a good girl?
Is Zelda?
Have you ridden the horse yet?
Are your going to write me a letter?
I hope so,
Love Mommie

Dear Zelda
I'm not much good at writing, but I'll try.
The drive in Theater is open now I've been out there. The only thing I've seen most of the movies out there.
I went to work the Monday after I came back.
I notice there was a different car at you're place so I never stop.
I poses(?) you have a good time.
I see it time to go to work so I guess I'll be seeing you.
Love Duane
July 1952 Comment from Zelda- When I was in 8th and 9th grade my folks rented the farm in St. Ignatius and we lived in Moses Lake at the time. Dad must have been carpentering. He went to Alaska the first summer. That is why she is asking about the farm.Grandpa and Grandma Lee had moved to town and I was probably at their house. The renting didn't work out and we went back after two years. I was not happy to leave the farm in the first place. But then I got to be happy in Moses Lake so leaving there was not so much fun.
