Feb 23 Karene to Zelda

Extra! Extra!
Mission J. M Men Champions!
The mission Ward Jr. M Men took the Championship in over time periods, Saturday nite.
What a game! Mrs. Neilsons broke a blood vessel in her palm, smacking it with her fist, shouting 'basket'. Mrs. Lee has dark spots on her knees, using them as smaking boards'.
Five little girls kept the gym ringing with yells-never have I heard five little girls make so much noise in my life. (Cheryl Ann, Betty Lou, Diana, Lois, Susan)
The Mission boys made the first basket, but in only a few seconds the Darby men had tied. Soon the Darbites were ahead five points-seven points-ten points.
The Missionites, and the sidelines, were almost having heart failures. The Mission boys played a ragged half-they just couldn't put the ball thru the hoop. They weren't playing 'team' ball. They were being very well guarded to-the Darby men were doing a very good job, of keeping the Mission boys in the center of the floor and they really had to fight to get a near enuf the basket to school.
They were pulling themselves together by the beginning of the fourth quarter. They were depending on Dave and Jay too much thru out the game. At the end of the game the score was 30 to 31 in favor of us, we thought-but the official said the last basket didn't count-so mission took a blow, but came up fighting. It was decided to play it off rather than come in again on Monday nite. It was a tense wait while the boys talked, gestured, planned and sucked lemons. The official came on and a hush fell-soon the boys were streaking down for a basket-no more hush. those ten minutes periods seemed almost as 'long as the game before. The Darby men were tiring, and decided to stall, but someone stole the ball and Mission broke ahead; bedlam broke loose-if it could be any worse than at times during the first game, man, stuff your ears.
Mission pulled ahead six, seven, eight, nime points!! And when the buzzer sounded-look out the roof may go! Oldsters were almost as wild as the five little girls.
The loosers were presented a ball-Stevensville got the beautiful sportsmanship trophy-Mission boys got the green and white suits.
They came home to find the school team had won their game-plowing them up in third play in conference play.
The big hope now, is to see the Mission boys play a 'team' game this weekend in the Tri-Stake tournament, Great Falls, Butte, Missoula Stakes. Then to Logan
Mrs. Lee hopes to get to go. but she will have to calm herself-she gets too excited-her hands begin to get stiff and her husband says 'take it easy Ma, it isn't life or death!
Do hope you are feeling well, sis. did you get a map yesterday? Whoops-Barry says, 'any letters."
Love Mom
